Many people continue to assume Hitler wanted war on the Summer of 1939. Is this some sort of western propaganda that people got caught up in? Yes, Hitler did want war, but not in 1939. Hitler expected war in 1942. Germany did not have the technology to take on all of Europe, however most of the technology that was necessary to take over Europe and obtain economic Autarky was not achieved until 1942. However, by 1943 Germany had lost a great deal of soldiers in Stalingrad. Over 300,000 surrendered and wouldn’t survive to see the end of the war, while many more perished fighting. Without these soldiers, there were few to pilot, move and use these new technologies. Poland was to be annexed and acquired the same way Czechoslovakia was. Hitler was heartbroken that his favorite nation, Britain, had declared war on him, when he wanted to unite and “liberate” East Germany from Polish “repression”. Remember, Poland was split between the Soviet Union and Germany, yet Britain and France was the first to declare and start “World War 2″ against Germany only. If Britain and France had not declared war on Germany, it would be very likely that the Germans would have declared war on the Soviet Union in 1942 with full Blitzkrieg, air, land, water, and possible Atomic arsenals.
